This is my first attempt at blogging, so please bear with me. I am creating this blog for a graduate course. This week, we set up our blogs. I found this to be much easier than I could have ever imagined. I thought there would be so much more involved. I think that blogging can be a very useful tool in my next career as an educator. Blogs can be used to relay information to parents, provide additional material and helpful links for students, and keep everyone up to date on what is happening in my classroom.
I am concerned about a few things though. I realize that many educators tend to share really personal information in their blogs, and I'm concerned about the line between OK and too personal. I tend to err on the side of caution and am actually more concerned that I won't use blogging to the extent that I could.
I also wonder about students who have no or limited access to computers and how we can fix that problem. I realize that libraries have free internet access, but some students are so intimidated by computers because they have such limited access to them that they may still be hesitant to use them.
More on another day ...

Diana - Hello. Great first post. You bring up two very good points. On the note about personal information on the blog - that will really be up to the individual blogging, very similar to how much you tell your students in the classroom about your personal life. Some teachers are very open and others tell their students nothing about what happens in their life outside of the school day.
Access is also an issue but gradually it is becoming easier and easier to both buy a computer and the Internet access or finding access at places like schools or public libraries.
Thanks.
